The Criminal Justice Dictionary
Electronic Edition 2010 © NewFoundations
(Original Pierian Press ISBN 0-87650-152-8 )

compiled by
Erik Beckman
School of Criminal Justice
Michigan State University
242 pages.
Increased attention to criminal justice as a discipline in its own right has made it not only appropriate but indeed necessary for persons wishing to be knowledgeable about the system to have an understanding of all its components and their special terminology. No longer is it possible to function professionally with knowledge restricted to only one segment of the system.
It is with these thoughts in mind that this dictionary has been published. Terms from law, police administration, corrections, and criminology have been brought together in one volume. Some of the terms are common, others encountered infrequently. No pretense is made that the work is complete; the editor welcomes additions and suggestions.
